Privacy Policy
COMMITTEE TO ELECT GEORGE D LYONS FOR 12TH DISTRICT COURT (“COMMITTEE TO ELECT GEORGE D LYONS FOR 12TH DISTRICT COURT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through lyonsforjudge.vcsms.co and our text-messaging and email programs, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what you give us and a limited amount of technical information:
- Information you submit. Your name, email address, and — if you choose to provide it — your mobile phone number, submitted through forms on our site.
- Consent records. When you opt in to text messages or email, we record the date and time, the exact consent language you were shown, the page you submitted from, your IP address, and your browser user-agent string. We keep this to demonstrate that consent was properly obtained.
- Message activity. For our text program: delivery status, replies, and opt-out keywords such as STOP and HELP.
- Technical information. Standard server log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
2. How we use information
- To send you the GOTV alerts, volunteer opportunities, and voting reminders you asked for.
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To honor your opt-out requests and maintain do-not-contact records.
- To operate, secure, and improve our website.
- To comply with applicable law, including recordkeeping under campaign-finance and telecommunications rules.
3. Text messaging (SMS/MMS)
If you provide your mobile number and check the box consenting to text messages, COMMITTEE TO ELECT GEORGE D LYONS FOR 12TH DISTRICT COURT may send you recurring SMS/MMS messages about policy alerts, action requests, and event updates.
- Consent is collected through a separate, optional checkbox that is unchecked by default. You can submit any form on our site without agreeing to texts.
- Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or donation.
- Message frequency varies, up to 10 messages per month.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance. You may also use our opt-out page or email us.
- Supported carriers include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and most major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

4. We do not sell or share your mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile phone numbers and text-message consent data are never included in any list we disclose, rent, sell, trade, or exchange with any third party.
The only exception is the vendors that operate the program on our behalf — for example, our text-message delivery provider — which may process your number solely to deliver our messages to you, under contract, and for no other purpose.
5. Other information sharing
Apart from mobile information, which is governed by Section 4, we may share information:
- with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, such as our website host, email provider, and text-message delivery provider;
- when required to comply with law, legal process, or a government request, including campaign-finance reporting obligations;
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of COMMITTEE TO ELECT GEORGE D LYONS FOR 12TH DISTRICT COURT or others; and
- with your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as you remain subscribed and afterward only as long as needed to honor your opt-out, meet legal and recordkeeping obligations, and resolve disputes. Consent and opt-out records are retained at least four years, consistent with telecommunications recordkeeping guidance.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
- Text messages: reply STOP to any message, or use our opt-out page.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us.
- Access, correction, deletion: contact us using Section 11 and we will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Children
Our website and programs are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes affecting our text program, notify subscribers by text or email.
